Speed up your Estimating Time

To speed up your estimating, you need to think in assemblies.

By learning to think this way, you will not have to remember to include every little item in your estimate.

The more inclusive your assemblies are, the more they will do for you.

If you don't already know about assembly estimating, I will break it down for you.

The idea of assembly estimating is not choosing through 30,000 items to select the 1 or 2 that you may use like most electrical estimating software would have you do.

Assembly estimating is having a group of items populate the estimate by entering an item.

A simple example of this would be:

When you enter a quantity of 1/2" EMT have your couplings, connectors, and straps auto-enter the estimate.

Another example would be:

When you enter a number of devices having a box with a bracket, plaster ring, and your plate automatically enter into the estimate along with the device.

To make this assembly more complete, you could have:

A box with a bracket, plaster ring, grounding stinger, screws, raceway, couplings, connectors, straps, and conductors, enter the estimate along with the device like happens in the Best Bid Hybrid Pro software by Best Bid.

The more software will do for you, the more valuable it is, and the faster you will produce your estimates.

The key to faster estimating is to think assemblies.
